What is broadband?
Broadband is a general term for high speed internet. Regular phone modems allow you to connect to the internet but webpages can download and display extremely slow. With broadband, your connection to the internet is blazing fast and lets you view websites in a matter of seconds. DSL, Cable and Fiber Optics are different ways Internet Service Providers offer broadband connections. Verizon's fiber optics broadband called FIOS is one of the fastest connections available today. When considering a broadband provider, choose a well known name with reputable customer service.
Reasons for Choosing Verizon Broadband
When it comes to Verizon Broadband, one can expect reliable service with incredible upload and download speeds. With their FIOS (fiber optics) internet they use fiber optics and you can get download speeds up to 50Mbps. What this means is if a two hour movie is downloaded by cable it would take 16 minutes as compared to 20 minutes in a Cable 10Mbps broadband. There is even more benefit upstream, if you post a video clip via cable it may take 20 seconds while with FIOS it would only take 2 seconds. Remarkable isn't it? In fact, in a PC Magazine 2008 survey, they beat other internet service providers in overall score.
Fun Fact. Did you know? Verizon was known as Bell Atlantic Corporation, after an AT&T anti-trust lawsuit forced them to change their name.
